Asangwa Asongwed

Asangwa maintains a broad bilingual litigation practice in a variety of areas, including but not limited to construction law, commercial law, employment law, and insurance law.

Prior to joining Sicotte Guilbault, Asangwa gained experience at a large firm. He advocated for corporate and individual clients in a myriad of matters spanning breach of commercial contracts, construction lien actions, wrongful dismissals, motor vehicle accidents, occupiers' liability, and professional malpractice. He has appeared before the Court of King's Bench of New Brunswick and prides himself in being candid, compassionate, and fully invested in his clients.

During his legal studies, Asangwa finished near the top of his class and interned at the Court of Appeal of New Brunswick where he contributed to drafting guides to civil & and criminal appeals for self represented litigants/appellants. 

Asangwa also worked as a research associate at the Faculty of Law's research center, l'Observatoire international des droits linguistiques and volunteered at organizations that promote access to services and justice for refugees and new immigrants. 

Asangwa completed his articles as a judicial law clerk working with judges at the Court of Appeal of New Brunswick, which provided him with courtroom experience, intimate and sound knowledge of the workings of the court system, as well as sharp advocacy skills.

His pre-law business experience in the areas of insurance and pension benefits and time spent in the field of immigration law have strengthened his ability to work with diverse clients and explain complex matters in simple terms. 

In his spare time, Asangwa is a family man who enjoys football (soccer), traveling, supporting local businesses and African associations.
